Sony presents an extension for the PS4 controller. The DualShock 4
welcomes a new accessory, the Back Button Attachment which allows to add
two additional buttons with the possibility of configuring up to 16
different actions. It has a small OLED screen that provides real-time
information on key allocation. A surprise less than a year from the
launch of the PS5.

While all eyes are now on the PlayStation 5, Sony is redirecting attention to the PS4 with a new accessory that gives a freshness to the DualShock 4. The Back Button Attachment is an extension that comes to attach to the back the joystick to provide even more buttons. They are two in number and are highly configurable.
Back Button Attachment: what interest in this new accessory of the DualShock 4?
In its current form, the DualShock 4 is controlled with three fingers: the thumb for the directional pad, the analog sticks and the four main buttons (X, triangle, square and circle). The index and middle fingers take care of the triggers. With the Back Button Attachment, players who wish can add two additional function buttons which can be conveniently controlled with the ring finger for added comfort in certain games. You can configure 16 different actions for each extension, such as the triangle, circle, R1 and R2 keys to name a few.
The two buttons “provide exceptional tactile feedback. So you can jump and slide without missing a thing, "said Sony. "This accessory also has an integrated OLED screen which provides real-time information on the allocation of keys." In addition, it is possible to save and choose up to 3 profiles to use in various games. There is also a 3.5mm jack port for connecting a wired headset since the accessory obstructs the native port. It plugs into the DualShock 4 extension port itself.
While Microsoft recently unveiled its future Xbox Series X (or Xbox) with its new controller, Sony fans are impatiently awaiting the response from the Japanese firm less than a year before the arrival of the PS5. With the new Back Button, the company probably offers a taste of what's new in the DualShock 5 and at the same time sends out a strong signal: it would be wrong to bury the PS4 as quickly. The console is still a priority for Sony and continues to sell like a piece of bread. It recently took second place in PS1 in the pantheon of the best-selling consoles in history.
Availability and price
The Back Buton Attachment that Sony designates by “backing of orders” in French will be available in January 2020 in the United States at first. Overseas, it came $ 29.99. The extension will then be available in France on February 14, 2020 at a price of € 29.99. So, are you planning to buy it?
