Much has been said about Microsoft ending support for windows 7 in 2020, but what hasn't been explained is how this will happen.
Until now, Microsoft has pushed often aggressively users of windows 7 to upgrade to windows 10 but, so far, its tactics have failed because Windows 10 is much less user-friendly than Microsoft claims in its hype and cannot (will not?) support some software currently used on people's PCs.
Windows 10 is not as popular as Windows 7 and that seems to annoy Microsoft the company has spent huge amounts of money on it, yet it still needs constant patches to correct its faulty updates. At some point, shortly after support for Windows 7 ends, Microsoft will (in its infinite wisdom) supply the final update, which will be nothing more than a piece of code that disables Windows 7 and everything associated with it.
I believe that very soon after, Windows 10 will become a monthly paid for service Microsoft has already said that there will be no 'single version' release of Windows 10 and has hinted at users having to pay for it as they do for Office 365. It will become yet another cash cow for Microsoft.
